Amos was born prior to his parent's migration to America. Family tradition indicates either Holland or Hollen, Germany as the location of his birth. His birth year is estimated at 1764 since no direct information exists.
He was a veteran of both THE REVOLUTIONARY WAR and THE WAR of 1812. A certificate of pubilc debt [#2805], was issued to Amos Weddle for a tour of active duty in the Westmoreland County [PA] Militia, which he performed as a member of Lt. Richard Johnston's Company. He served during the period of Aug. 8th thru Sept. 8th, 1782.
When his mother sold her husband John's estate in 1800, Amos did not sign the deed. He may have been married and lived elsewhere, already allocated his share of the estate.
His death date is estimated between 1820 & 1830, since there are signed deeds in Hawkins County [TN] in 1814 and 1818.
His marriage to Elizabeth Stinson in 1789 produced seven children : Mary, Sarah, John, James, Betsy, Amos Jr. & Edward.
