WILLIS LOOSE ALTENDERFER, prominent Hagerstown businessman, died Wednesday evening at his home, 9 Fairgreen circle, of a heart attack. He was 74.

He came to Hagerstown 35 years ago with William D. Byron and Sons at Williamsport. Later he became associated with the Loewengart Tannery in Mercersburg.

He was born in Hamburg, Pa., the son of Irwin B. and Agnes (Loose) Altenderfer.

He was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church, the Vestry, Men's Club and for years was a warden in the church. He was also a member of Masonic fraternities and Ali Ghan Shrine, and was the first president of Fountain Head Country Club.

Besides his wife, Ethel (Cusson) Altenderfer, he is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Maria Pellegrine, Vienna, Va.; sisters, Mrs. William Burkey and Mrs. John Land, both of Hamburg, Pa.

Services were held at St. John's Episcopal Church; interment in Rose Hill Cemetery; arrangements by the Suter-Rouzer Funeral Home.
