Services for Ruby Carroll, 78, of Harker Heights, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Killeen City Cemetery.
Mrs. Carroll died Jan. 14, 2014, at a Temple hospital.
Ms. Ruby Phillips married Joe P. Carroll right after high school. They were high school sweethearts at Killeen High School. She was a longtime employee of Centel Phone Company in Killeen where she developed lifelong friendships as an operator.
She attended the nursing program at Central Texas College where she made the dean's honor roll. She worked at Indian Oaks Nursing Home as a CNA in Harker Heights. It was always a passion of Ruby's to take care of other people and especially the elderly.
Mrs. Carroll was a lifelong Christian and a member of First Baptist Church in Harker Heights.
She was a self-taught horticulturist. She had a green thumb for plants, trees and all flowers and knew them all by name. She loved plants, crocheting, fishing, music and had a special love for all animals.
Survivors include her children, James Carroll and Charlotte Carroll of Killeen; and her dear furry family, Dolly Do and Forrest.
