Grace Hawkins of Tequesta, FL died peacefully on the evening of January 1, 2014 with her soul mate, Sam, at her side. In the week leading up to her passing, she enjoyed the company of her entire family, having time to visit with and comfort each of her children and grandchildren. She felt truly blessed and at peace, and looked forward to finally getting to hold her infant son, Michael who had predeceased her over fifty years ago. Grace was born in Sarasota, Florida on 24 May 1935. She and Sam were married in 1956 and had four children together. Grace was a designer, a wonderful cook and seamstress, a tireless volunteer, and a homemaker in the truest sense, but most of all, she was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother who took great pride in the tight-knit and loving family that she and Sam created together. She adored her family and showered them with love and affection, but also never shied from giving direction when needed! Grace was no less loving or proud of her extended family - daughters Jan, Kay and Rhonda, than she was of her biological children. She is survived by them, as well as her husband, Sam, children, Chris, Jamie and Jennifer, and grandchildren Jessica, Josh, Matt, Daniel and Sam. A vigil and visitation for Grace will be held on Sunday, January 12th from 4-6 pm at Aycock-Riverside Funeral Home, 1112 Military Trail, Jupiter. In keeping with her love of Hawaii and the times spent there with family, attendees are encouraged to wear Hawaiian attire to the vigil. A Mass will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, January 13, at St Peters Catholic Church, 1701 Indian Creek Blvd, Jupiter. Grace will be buried with her son, Michael at the National (Veterans) Cemetery in Sarasota, Florida. There will be a memorial in Sarasota in February. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your local Catholic charities or a charity of your choice . Online condolences may be made at www.aycockfuneralhomejupiter.com.
