Muriel F. Lyons, 85, of Hampton NH, formerly of Brighton MA, died at Portsmouth (NH) Regional Hospital on Sept. 9, 2003. Mrs. Lyons was born in Brighton on March 11, 1918, daughter of the late Jason and Florence (Cummiskey) Forsythe. She lived most of her life in Brighton before moving to Hampton 11 years ago. She was a graduate of Brighton High School.

Mrs. Lyons enjoyed arts and crafts and was a qualified teacher in ceramics. She was an accomplished seamstress, continually sewing and knitting, and had the ability to do many projects around the house.

Mrs. Lyons was a former member of the Sodality at Presentation Parish in Brighton.

She is survived by her children James J. Lyons, Jr., of Watertown MA, Muriel F. Hayes of Needham MA, and Thomas R. Lyons and Donna M. Lyons, both of Hampton NH; sisters M. Violet Keaveney of Newtonville MA, Bernice Courtney of Bellingham MA, and Ruth Finacchiaro of Watertown MA; brother William Forsythe of Watertown MA; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband James J. Lyons in April 1989; brothers Thomas Forsythe, Joseph Forsythe, and Leo Forsythe; and sisters Dorothy Foley and Anna L. Forsythe.

A Funeral Mass was held on Sept. 12 in the Church of St. Patrick at 212 Main Street in Watertown MA, with interment in Mount Auburn Cemetery in Cambridge MA.
