Michael Douglas Armour, age 57, a resident of Birchwood, passed away Monday in a local hospital. Michael was a graduate of Bradley Central High School, Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro and he received his Masters Degree from Travecca University. He served 30 years as a teacher in the Hamilton County School System retiring from Brown Middle School and he also worked in Drug Intervention in Hamilton County. Michael was an avid University of Tennessee Volunteer Football Fan. He enjoyed gardening and growing flowers and he also enjoyed restoring furniture. He was preceded in death by his father William Jackson "Jack"Armour and he was of the Christian Faith.
Survivors include his wife, Janet Armour of Birchwood, his sons, Daniel Armour and his wife Melissa of Chattanooga and Adam Armour of Birchwood, his mother, Mattie Armour Gibson of Cleveland, his sisters, Brenda Brooks also of Cleveland and Deborah Jackson and her husband Andrew of Athens, Tennessee, his brother, Dennis Armour and his wife Donna of Ocoee, Tennessee and his aunt, Gussie "Mickey" Tinsley and her husband Herman of Pompano Beach, Florida. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. The Remembrance of Life Service will be conducted Thursday afternoon at 4:00 from the North Ocoee Chapel of the Jim Rush Funeral Homes with Pastor David Riggs officiating. Interment will follow in the McInturff Cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers. The family request that memorials be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. The family will receive friends from 6 until 9 P. M. Wednesday at the North Ocoee Chapel of the Jim Rush Funeral Homes who has charge of the arrangements.
