Martin A. Juarez, 83, a resident of Bayard, NM went home to the Lord on Sunday, January 12, 2014 at Fort Bayard Medical Center after a long, hard and courageous battle with cancer. He was born January 17, 1930 in Santa Rita to Bardomiano and Juanita Donez Juarez. He proudly served the United States Army. When he was honorably discharged from the army, he went to work as a miner at Kennecott Mines in Santa Rita. He later continued his military duties when he joined the New Mexico National Guard. After he retired from the mines and the military, he gave his time to the Seniors Center in Santa Clara. He enjoyed going on trips to the casinos where he was always hopeful of hitting it "BIG". He is survived by his wife, Elida of the family home; five daughters, Debora Silva of NC; Diana Campos of Tucson, AZ; Ana Maria Juarez of Bayard; Zeidy Jordan and husband Josh of Santa Clara; Margarita Juarez of Bayard; seven grandchildren, Martin A. Juarez III, Isabel Pedregon, Maria Dolores Pedregon, Jessica Juarez, Sergio Pedregon, Atziry Jordan and Emmanuel Jordan; eleven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Rodolfo Juarez and wife Margie of Las Vegas, NV; Vicente Juarez and wife Dolores " Lola" of Tucson, AZ; six sisters, Aurora Chavez of Silver City; Esperanza Perez of Silver City; Teresa Montoya of Los Angeles, CA; Anita Morales and husband Frank of AZ; Guadalupe Carbajal of Silver City and Raquel Valencia and husband Russell; numerous nieces and nephews and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Martin A. Juarez Jr.; one sister, Isabel Rios; the mother of his two daughters, Rita Trujillo; a special nephew, Tony Rios. Visitation will be Thursday, January 16 from 5-6pm at Terrazas Funeral Chapels with the prayer vigil and holy rosary to begin at 6pm with Deacon Richard Rodriguez and Carmen Terrazas reciting. The funeral liturgy will be celebrated Friday, January 17 at 9:30am at Santa Clara Catholic Church with Father Robert Becerra officiating. Concluding service interment will follow at Fort Bayard National Cemetery will full military honors. Pallbearers will be Fred Perez, Steve Jaramillo, Ernie Juarez, Eric Gonzales, Josh Jordan and Joe Gonzales. Honorary pallbearers will be the rest of his family and friends.
