Roberto Suarez-Maldonado, (83), graduated into heaven on January 14, 2014 in Ocala, FL. Roberto is preceded in death by his parents, Jose Manuel Suarez, Juana Maldonado, and brothers, Bolivar Ochard, and Miguel Angel Maldonado. Roberto is survived by his wife of 61 years of marriage, Priscilla Droz Suarez; daughters, Priscilla (David) Dishon, and Joan (John) Brodarick; loving grandchildren, Teresa, and Amanda Dishon, Robert and Anna Brodarick; sisters, Anna Suarez, Milagros Papayanopulos, Daisy Ortiz, and Josefina Torres; and many nieces and nephews. He was born in Fajardo, Puerto Rico and was a Florida resident since 1978.

A member of the Catholic faith and St. Jude Catholic Community, after retirement he spent time gardening, playing guitar, singing, and enjoying his grandchildren and helping others. He served our country in the US Army in the 3rd Infantry Division, and in Korea from 1950 – 1953 and remained in the Reserves until 1986 as a Staff Sergeant. During this time he received many awards including, Korean Service Medal, United Nations Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, two bronze stars, and the Korean Presidential Unit Citation.

Visitation will be Mon., Jan. 20, 2014 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM at St. Jude Catholic Community. Funeral mass will be Tue., Jan. 21, 2014 10:00 AM at St. Jude Catholic Community.

Interment will be at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL. Family recommends memorials be given to Hospice of Marion County. Arrangements entrusted with HIERS-BAXLEY FUNERAL SERVICES, Ocala. Sentiments may be left online at www.hiers-baxley.com.
