Charles A. "Chick" Adams, Jr., beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away at his home
Wednesday, August 7, 2013.

Mr. Adams was born September 4, 1930 in Greensboro to the late Charles and Mildred Adams. He was preceded in death by his step-mother Elsie and brother Donald.

In 1944 at the age of 14 he moved with his family to New York State where he made many lifelong friends. He returned to North Carolina to enroll at Duke University where he had received a scholarship with the Duke University football program , under Wallace Wade.

In his senior year at Duke he met the love of his life, Virginia. They were married March 21, 1953 in the Duke University Chapel.

After graduation they returned to New York where he began his future career as a salesman in the paper industry.

After 10 years they returned to his beloved North Carolina where they have lived since, except for the short period that he was in Richmond, VA. Continuing his career in the paper sales industry he lived in Raleigh for 16 years. He was instrumental in establishing what is now the Raleigh Little League Football Program.

In 1980 the family moved to Fayetteville and Mr. Adams began his own company, "C.A. Adams & Sons" the liaison between the paper mill and the printer. Due to the success of being a small company in a big industry the company attracted an international paper company which purchased the company's assets in 1986.

Chick also established the first father/son golf tournament in Fayetteville which is still in existence today.

In 1990 Mr. Adams retired to Buies Creek where he has since established a relationship with Campbell University, serving on the Presidential Board of Advisers.

Chick was a member of Memorial Baptist Church in Buies Creek and loved the Lord and his Holy Word, the Bible.

Chick is survived by his wife of 60 years, Virginia of the home; 3 sons, Donald and wife Jeri of Ocean Isle Beach, Wes and his partner Todd of Hollywood CA and Lucas and wife Christina of Lumberton; a daughter Mary Lou White of Buies Creek; a brother Jerry and wife Jan of Winston Salem; 12 grandchildren and a great grandchild.
