Simen Kaasen emigrated about 1880 from Alvdal, Norway. Simen was married to Kari Andersdatter Kveberg Bellingmoen (1860 - 1897) of Alvdal, Hedmark, Norway and they had several children.

Kari and my g.g.grandmother, Ingeborg Pedersdatter Lokken (Eidem) were first cousins and emigrated within 3 years of each other, Kari to WI and Ingeborg to Dodge County, MN.
Kari's mother, Maren Olsdatter EllevoldsLokken (spellings vary) (father Anders Kveberg), was an older sister to Ingeborg's father, Peder Olsen Lokken, who was a well-known guide in Rendalen, of whom Jakob Brede Bull, the famous Norwegian author, wrote.

Kari may have died in 1897 when she gave birth to twins. Simen remarried 1899 to Bertha Borgen, also a Norwegian immigrant, from Lille Alvdal.

Simen's cousin once-removed was Gunnar Kaasen, the Alaskan sled-dog musher with the original "Iditarod" race to Nome in 1925. See Gunnar's site at FindAGrave, also in Washington.

We are seeking living offspring of Kari.
