H, 135th Pennsylvania Infantry, and honorably discharged with his company May 24, 1863, although he was home on sick furlough at the time. At muster-out, the army docked his final pay for loss of his knapsack and canteen. He also enlisted and mustered into federal service at Lancaster September 24. 1864, as a private with Co. G, 199th Pennsylvania Infantry, joining for duty December 1, and honorably discharged with his company June 28, 1865.
