Gail graduated from Northland College in 1978. She earned a master's degree in adult education and business management from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond. In her early career she worked in banking and for the Federal Reserve Bank as a bank examiner and training coordinator. She grew tired of "working with numbers and wanted to do more work with people" and joined the Blue Heron Girl Scout Council in New Berlin, Wisconsin as a Field Director. She went on to hold several positions with the Girl Scouts as Executive Director and Chief Financial Officer in Illinois, Kansas, Indiana and Minnesota. In July 2003 she took a position with the American Cancer Society in Wausau as an income development manager and developed more fundraising skills with Independence First in Milwaukee. In 2006 she returned to Ashland to work at Northland College as a Major Gifts Fund Raiser, a position she held until her illness forced her to retire in 2009. She was a Good Shepherd Lutheran Church council member and was on the Board of Directors of Faith in Action.
She is survived by her father, Wayne, brother, Bruce (Jane) Reed, sister-in-law, Shirley Reed, nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends. She was preceded in death by her mother, Donna and brother, Craig.
Funeral services will be held at Good Shephard Lutheran Church on Saturday, January 11, 2014. Visitation will be held at 10 am until the service time at 11 am. Burial will be at Highbridge cemetery at a later date.
