GALESBURG - Shannon R. Porter, 38, Galesburg, was pronounced dead at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2014, in rural Galesburg. He was born May 20, 1975, in Silvis. Shannon enjoyed fishing, working on cars and helping as many people as possible. He is survived by his mother, Beth A. Walters of Galesburg; grandmother, Betty Porter of Galesburg; uncle, Todd Harrington of Galesburg; good friend and brother, Dallas Charles and his mother Gloria Gowler, both of Galesburg. He is also survived by five cousins, Antone Struckley of Springfield, Jordan Struckley of Springfield, Shannah Harrington of Galesburg, Amber Harrington of Galesburg, and Cory Harrington of Galesburg; and numerous relatives and friends.Shannon was preceded in death by his uncle, Tom Porter; and his stepfather, John D. Walters.Cremation rites will be accorded. A celebration of life memorial service will be at a later date. Memorial donations may be left to the family.
