PINNACLE, NC ~ Mrs. Mary Lee Wall Ashburn, 64, of Pinnacle, the widow of Clyde Edwin "Ed" Ashburn, passed away Thursday, Sept. 18, 2003, at Northern Hospital of Surry County in Mount Airy.

She was born Aug. 14, 1939, in Surry County to the late Robert Lester and Betty Elizabeth Wall Wall.

She was a homemaker and a member of Friendly Chapel Church.

She is survived by three sons and a daughter-in-law, Eddie Wayne Ashburn of the home, Ricky Lee Ashburn of Mount Airy and Robert Craig and his wife Rikki Ashburn of King; a granddaughter, Hannah Ashburn; two stepgrandsons, Jason McCrary and Nicholas McCrary; a sister and brother-in-law, JoAnn and Posey Whittington of Pilot Mountain; and two brothers and sisters-in-law, Virgil and Polly Wall of Pinnacle and Charlie and Rubie Wall of Pinnacle.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Ashburn was preceded in death by a sister, Bonnie Wall Snow; and two brothers, Bobby Ray Wall and Lawrence Wall.

The funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 21, at Friendly Chapel Church, with Brother Don Collins, Brother Jerry Pardue and the Rev. Bob Mills officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 this evening, Sept. 20, at the church.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Surry County, 1326 N. Main St., Mount Airy, NC 27030.
