THE PARIS NEWS, MONDAY, JANUARY 13, 2014, PAGE 3 - Rebecca Ann White Hurst of Waco went to be with the Lord on Sunday, Jan. 12, 2014. Funeral services will be held at First Baptist Church of Bogata on Tuesday at 2 p.m. with interment at Bogata Cemetery under the direction of Wood Funeral Homes. A memorial will be held in Axtell, Texas at 1 p.m. at Axel Elementary School on Saturday.

She was born to Hubert Glen and Alice Ann Mitchell White on Aug. 28, 1970 in Paris. She graduated from Rivercrest High School in Bogata in 1988 as Salutatorian, along with many departmental awards. She graduated with highest honors from Paris Junior College in 1990, having been a member of Alpha Chi honor society and receiving the Outstanding Musician Leadership Award. She received a Bachelor of Music, All Level Music Education Degree from East Texas Baptist University in Marshall, Texas. She graduated Summa Cum Laude in May of 1993. She was a member of Sigma Alpha Lota women's professional music fraternity and received the Ruby Sword of Honor. Becky graduated from Baylor University of Waco in 1995 with a Master of Music Degree in Piano. Becky taught elementary music in both the Axtell and Mart school districts for 18 years. She was much loved by her students and co-workers alike.

Becky married Brian Hurst, who survives her, on June 7, 1997 and her precious dog, Sadie. Also surviving are her mother, Alice Ann White of Bogata; a brother, Dr. Robert White and wife Brenda; a nephew, Davis White; a niece, Victoria White; and uncle and aunt, Wayne and Joy White. Also surviving are mother- and father-in-law, Wayne and Barbara Hurst; brother- and sister-in-law, Kelly and Steve Hogan; brother-in-law, James Hurst; nephews, Kyle Putman, Colby Tennison, Kolten Hurst, Hunter Hurst and Kaden Allen. She is also survived by her very special friend, Penny Kocian.

Becky was preceded in death by her father, Glen White and her grandparents, Aaron and Isabel White and Mack and Emmie Mitchell, all of Bogata.
