Prominent Farmer Dead.
J. W. Lowery, Sr., a prominent and widely known farmer, died Thursday morning of his home six miles northeast of Macon, after a comparatively brief illness. Funeral were held this afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Catholic church, conducted by Father T. J. Barrett, with interment at St. Mary's cemetery.
Mr. Lowery was born in Germany, but came to this country when eighteen years old. He lived in Ohio for a short time and then came to this county where he lived continuously until his death.
He is survived by a wife and five sons and three daughters, Frank, John Joseph, Fred and George; Miss Lena Lowery, Mrs. Thomas O'Rourk, Mrs. George Teters.
Mr. Lowery was regarded as one of Macon county's best citizens and had hosts of friends wherever he was known. His influence, was always for good and he will be sadly missed.
