Jennie Maud Schoonover, daughter of Frank and Lottie Schoonover, was born Nov. 12, 1878 in Elliott, Montgomery County, Ia., and died June 7, in McCook.

She came with her parents to Frontier County, Neb., in February 1886.

She was married June 7, 1895, to Charles Blake, who preceded her in death on Sept. 9, 1940. To this union 15 children were born, 12 of whom are still living, three having died in infancy. The surviving children are: Three sons, Loyd and Vern of McCook, and Claud of Bartley; nine daughters, Fern Hanes of Bartley, Myrtle Hawkins of Lincoln, Effie Cheney, Wilma Smith, Minnie Doyle, and Hazel Lashley all of McCook, Wilda Modrell of Corvalis, Ore., Doris Chambers of Bennet, Neb., and Edna Dike of Indianola.

Besides her children, she leaves three brothers and two sisters: Bert Schoonover of Spokane, Wash., Earl Schoonover of Wonatchie, Wash., and Fred Schoonover of Bladen, Nebr., Ada Piper of Wray, Colo., and Luella Creasman of McCook; 53 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren, and a host of other friends and relatives.

She was very loyal to her family and very devoted to her children. Her greatest pleasure was to have her children around her.
