Clearfield Man Dies of Leukemia

CLEARFIELD - Lewis Oliver Dodd, 29, of 101 Parkway drive in Clearfield, died yesterday in the Veteran's hospital at Salt Lake City of leukemia (cancer of the blood). He had been ill for many months.

A member of the Latter day Saints church, he was stricken while working in Atlanta, Ga., as installation manager for the Sears and Roebuck Co. there. His family brought him back to Utah in May.

A navy officer during World War II, he was an instrument instructor for the air force at Corpus Christi in Texas. After being discharged in 1947 he returned here and worked until 1950 at Hill air force base.

Born on March 15, 1923, in Ogden, he was the son of Jacob and Grace Garfield Dodd. The family moved to Nevada while he was still a boy and he took his schooling in Elko, Nev. He was married to Beverly Burnett at Atlanta on July 11, 1946.


Surviving are his widow, a son, Lewis Dawson Dodd, and his parents, all of Clearfield; a grandfather, Lewis Dodd, Tremonton, and three brothers, Jay and Virgil Dodd, Clearfield, and Richard Dodd, who is headed for Korea as an Airman.
