Thomas "Jerry" Spicer 72 of Bluefield, West Virginia passed away on Saturday, January 11, 2014 at his residence. He was born on September 23, 1941 in McComas, West Virginia to the late Alvie Spicer and Ora Gillenwater Spicer. Mr. Spicer was a retired coal miner after 23 years and was a member of the UMWA. He was the Pastor of the Glorious Church of Jesus in Pocahontas, Virginia. He had been a resident of Bluefield for the past 55 years. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son Michael Spicer and two infant brothers and one infant sister. He was also preceded in death by three sisters Ruth Hicks, Joan Schmidt and Agnes (Butchie) Eldridge.
Survivors Include: Wife: Lucy Fay Bratton Spicer of the home
Brothers: JC Spicer of Haysville, Kanas Edward Spicer and wife Carolyn of Bluewell, West Virginia
Sisters: Evelyn Berry of Jefferson, Massachusetts Brenda Jones and husband Ted of South Boston, Virginia Linda Arnold of Jefferson City, Tennessee
Two Grandchildren: Adam Spicer and Savanna Spicer
Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell, West Virginia with Pastor Donald L. Crewey and Kevin Spicer officiating the service. Burial will follow at Grandview Memory Garden in Bluefield, Virginia where Josh Anderson, Ronnie R. Bratton, Chester Bratton, Wayne Baker, Michael Parker, Randy Baker and Kevin Spicer will be serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell, West Virginia from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
