Irma Turner, 97, of Taylorville, IL died at 9:50 AM, Sunday, July 5, 2009.
She was born July 6, 1911 in Prarieton Township, Christian County, IL the daughter of William and Irma Moomaw Tanner. On December 12, 1931 she married LeRoy Turner in Taylorville and he preceded her in death on November 23, 1971. Mrs. Turner was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Taylorville, former member of the Royal Neighbors, member of Eagles Auxiliary, Silly Sassy Red Hats and Christian County Home Extension.
Mrs. Turner loved to play cards and bingo and was a devoted mother and loving grandmother to her family which consisted of:
Son: James (Bill) Turner and wife Sharon of Taylorville and daughter: Delores Hunt and husband William of Taylorville. 7 Grandchildren: Wendy O'Bryan and husband Mark, Dana McKinnon, Tangee Friedrich and husband Randy and Kristine Pruitt and husband James all of Taylorville, James Lee Turner, and Cathleen Turner of Chicago and Penny Richards and husband Jeff of New City, IL. 12 Great Grandchildren: Joel Withrow, Wesley Withrow, Caleb Alsbury, Brandon Withrow and wife Kim, Ashton Turner, Talon Alsbury, Toby Schulte, Travis Alsbury, Blake Richards, Ashley Pruitt, Alexandra Pruitt and Jessie Turner. 2 Great-great Grandchildren: Karissa Alsbury and Preston Withrow. Sister: Mary Michel of Taylorville. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son Jerry Wayne Turner, grandson-in-law, Richard McKinnon, 4 brothers and 2 sisters.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, July 16, 2009 in McClure Funeral Home, Taylorville with Pastor Bob Spurgin officiating. Burial will be in Glenhaven Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until time of service in the funeral home.
