Charles C. Hemming, aged 69-years and 10 months, died at his home Wednesday afternoon of last week at 2 o'clock. He had been ill for some time with a complication of diseases. He was a member of the 32nd O. V. I. He was married to miss Emma A. Albaugh, a resident of Carrollton, about 49 years ago. To this union were born 10 children with four surviving. His second wife, whose maiden name was Mary Ella Wambaugh, survives. He was a member of Dellroy Methodist Episcopal Church for a number of years.
Mr. Hemming was born May 5, 1844, died March 5. He is survived by his wife , Mrs. Ella Hemming, and four children; John of Cleveland, Mrs. Grant Gregory of Stanford, Montana; Mrs. William Steen of Carrollton, and Miss Ella, a nurse of Cleveland.
Funeral services were conducted in the Methodist Episcopal Church, Friday afternoon by Rev. A. D. Holden, assisted by Rev. H. H. Bergen. The body was taken to Carrollton on the afternoon train, where interment was made in Grandview Cemetery. Those from a distance attending the funeral were; Mr. and Mrs. Frank A. Dunlap, Thomas M. Hemming, Willis Coleman, William Baker, Mrs. William Steen and four children, of Carrollton; John Hemming, of Cleveland; Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Hoopes, Mrs. Carl and Miss Cora Hoopes, of Minerva; Mr. and Mrs. James Burgess, Mrs. Ida Edwards, Miss Ada Burgess, Mr. and Mrs. William Geyser and daughter, Louis Burgess, of Canton; Mr. Stoneman and George Kincade, of Leavittsville; Mesdames John Dixon, Robert Marshall, Mary Dixon and Miss Mary Jones, of Tabor.
