The remains of Major John H. Brayton arrived here yesterday from Gibson City and were removed from the depot to Stapps Chapel where short funeral services were conducted by Rev. George Stevens and the pastor from Gibson City, who accompanied the remains. From the church the body was taken to Greenwood cemetery in charge of members of Dunham Post, of which the deceased was a member, and for the present placed in Bullards vault. Major Brayton died at Gibson City on Monday night. He was subject to nervous attacks and about a week ago was stricken down at the Gibson City Hotel, where he was attended by his sister until his death.

Major Brayton was well known here. For a number of years, he was bookkeeper at D.S. Shellabarger and at one time, while an active temperance worker, he was secretary of the state temperance union. About a year ago, he entered the employ of a Minneapolis milling company and was selling their goods on the road when stricken down.

The deceased was a soldier for the Union in the 42nd Ohio regiment and was on General Garfield's staff. His wife died some years ago and is buried in Greenwood cemetery. A son, fourteen years old, is in Ravenna, Ohio with his grandparents.
