Mrs. Janet Annette Godbey, loving wife, mother and grandmother, 74, of Cross Lanes, passed away Saturday, Jan. 11, 2014, at Putnam Genesis Center.

Janet was a homemaker and a volunteer for Kanawha County Ambulance.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ishmael and Faye Lanham, and brothers, Dwayne and Bobby Lanham.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Clifford Godbey; sons, Curtis Ray and wife, Martha Godbey, of Cross Lanes, Bob Godbey of Nitro and Steve and wife, Cheri Godbey, of Cross Lanes; sisters, Carolyn Kuhlman of Clyde, Ohio, and Joyce E. Thanasiu of Toledo, Ohio; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and lifelong best friend, Janet Wysong.

The family would like to say a special thank you to Susan O'Neil and Putnam Genesis Center for the care given to our wife and mother.

A tribute to the life of Mrs. Janet Godbey will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan 18, at Gatens-Harding Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jeff Arthur officiating. Entombment will follow in Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens, Cross Lanes.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Gatens-Harding Funeral Home, Poca.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or a charity of choice.
