James "JW" Brooks, Jr. was born September 21, 1935 and passed away on January 11, 2014. After serving in the Air Force, he joined the Dallas Police Department where he served for 29 years. He also pastored several churches as a Baptist minister. Through the years he also served his community as a foster parent, coach and Cub and Boy Scout leader. In his golden years, he enjoyed serving hot dogs and popcorn at church carnivals and telling outrageous stories to his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Myra; sisters, Elaine Fuller and Sunny Feldpausch; 4 children, Larry Brooks, Randy Brooks, Chris and Brooke Brooks and Jennifer and Jason Mays, nine grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, one uncle, two aunts and many cousins, nieces and nephews. JW will be greatly missed.
