Son of Samuel W. Shapiro and Mayme Davis Shapiro. Beloved husband and father of four. WW II veteran - US Army Infantry.
Jack grew up in St. Louis; went to high school in Houston. After serving in WWII, he used the GI Bill to complete his college education at University of Houston, earning a bachelor's degree in business. That's also where he met and married the love of his life. They were happily and devotedly married from June 16, 1950 until his death.
After a delightful honeymoon in Mexico, the couple set up housekeeping in Houston, until Jack discovered the company for which he worked had not known when they hired him that he was a "Jew", but now that they knew, they would never promote him. He and his bride decided to move back to St. Louis to go to work in the family jewelry store - Shapiro's at 2709 Cherokee St.
He had a wicked sense of humor, was highly intelligent and very kind and considerate. Still missed today!
