BROOKS, Joy Jacquline age 85 of Butler Twp., passed away peacefully Tuesday, December 31, 2013. She was born April 4, 1928 in Central City, KY, daughter of the late James D. & Myrtle M. Cundiff. Joy was a loving wife, mother and grandparent. She loved gardening, her pets and was an accomplished artist. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Frederick Brooks; her sister, Betty Cundiff, three children, Gary and wife, Nadiene Brooks, Joseph and wife, Karla Brooks, and Nancy and husband, Brian Hall; 6 grandchildren, Leah, Steven, Mark, Stephanie, Jim and Joe, along with seven great-grandchildren and her special cousins, Patty and Bobby Brigance. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 pm, Monday, January 6, at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia with Pastor Ryan Shellabarger officiating. Burial will follow at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 12:30 pm until time of service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the ASPCA in Joy's memory.
