Mabel Jean Hamilton, 80, of St. Joseph, passed away Saturday, January 11, 2014, at a St. Joseph health care center.
She was born February 18, 1933, in Braddyville, Iowa, daughter of Florence and Carl Anderson. She worked with her husband as co-owner of the Hamilton's Antique Store, Gower, Mo. She was also a telephone operator and a homemaker who loved to read.
Mabel was preceded in death by her husband, John Donald Hamilton in 2010; and her parents.
She is survived by son, Steve Hamilton and wife Cindy of St. Joseph; daughter, Jean Brown and significant other Kenneth "Buck" Harris of Independence, Mo.; two grandsons, Daron Simpson and fiance Casey Hale and Devon Simpson and his significant other Tiffany Euler; five great-grandchildren; and a sister, Eva O'Dell of Rock Port, Mo.
She will be cremated under the direction of the Rupp Funeral Home.
There is no scheduled visitation or memorial service at this time. The inurnment will be with her husband at the Leavenworth National Cemetery.
