Mr. Butler graduated from Newnan High School and retired from General Motors. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp and was the former Chairman of the Deacon Board at Floyd Road Baptist Church for 25 years. He had also faithfully ministered on Sunday afternoons to the residents at Autumn Breeze Nursing Home.
He is survived by his wife Betty Louise Butler; children Donna Sweat of Villa Rica, Chuck Butler of Temple, Dawn (Roger) Neal of Aragon, Dana (Todd) Morton of Temple and Deedra (Darryl) Kerlin of Hiram; brother Edward Butler of Milledgeville; grandchildren Robert (Keisha), Amanda, Michael, Timothy (Michelle), Garrett, Jeffrey (Sarah), Jacob (Briana) and Destiny; three great grandchildren and four step great grandchildren.
Donations can be made to the Youth Fund at Floyd Road Baptist Church in Austell. West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory in Marietta, Georgia was in charge of arrangements.
