He was a member of St. Anne's Episcopal Church. Prior to his retirement, he had been employed as a supervisor at Mack Trucks From 1951 to 1963, he had been employed as a Hagerstown city police officer. A U.S. Army veteran, he served during World War II. He was a member of Morris Frock Post 42 American Legion; and BPO Elks Lodge 378.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Eileen E. Smith Eyler, in 1990.
He is survived by three daughters, Sheila E. Moser of Chambersburg, Pa., Evelyn A. Martin and Susan A. Kauffman, both of Hagerstown; two sons, Clarence H. Eyler and Cornelius A. Eyler Jr., both of Hagerstown; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and his companion, Dorothy Carty of Smithsburg.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Sarah Cline and Mildred Wasson; and six brothers, Jack Eyler, Gerald Eyler, Clifton Eyler, Robert Eyler, Clarence Eyler and Elvin Eyler.
Services were held at St. Anne's Episcopal Church, Smithsburg; burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery; arrangements were by the Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home.
