In the words of Rose Ella White, the youngest daughter of 'Will and Abbie'..."In March of 1899, my precious mother passed on to another world, leaving five small children ranging in age from 11 years down to 3 months old. My dear little grandmother White took our baby brother and raised him to 13 years old when she passed on. Well, this early spring of 1899 is where my memory begins. About the first thing I remember is how lonely I felt when evening came and my mama was gone."

* A Comment from me... In the lengthy letter written in grandma's later years, there is no mention of a service or burial site for her dear mother. William White's parents,Francis Marion and Sarah (Linville) White, who died a decade after Abbie, are buried in the Old Sepulpa Cemetery. Abbie's own parents,Henry Asa and Amanda (Graves) Herring are both buried in Mitchel Cemetery in McDonald County, Missouri (near Splitlog). Her mother died a decade before Abbie, and her father died a mere 3 months prior to Abbie's own untimely demise.

I have been desperately seeking her resting place for several years. Though, I knew that the logical burial was Stroud and that there was a listing for a Mrs White at Stroud Cemetery, there was a plot number, but no other identifying information such as dates or marker. I saw that 2 of the sites in that same plot were paid for by Emery Bibee. I also found that Emery's parents were buried there. I searched for Abbie in Sepulpa (where her inlaws are buried),McDonald County Missouri (where her parents are buried, and everywhere else in Stroud. Knowing that she was a beloved member of both families I am certain she would have been given a proper burial in a place near family.

After many months of further research, I have found information that proves that Abbie's Mother-in-law is connected to the Bybee family through the marriage of her brother Stephen Combs Harlan to Mary 'Polly' Bybee in 1822 Barren, Kentucky. I have found Bybee/Bibee families in 1900 in Noble and Payne Counties, adjoining Lincoln County. John Quincy Scofield Adams Bibee, who is buried in the same Lot in Stroud Cemetery as Abbie White, moved from Missouri to first Haskell, then Muskogee, then finally Stroud Oklahoma after 1900. His son, Emery, paid for the plots in Stroud Cemetery.
