Doris Ann Braden Duke, 84, of Liberty, Mo., passed away January 8, 2014, under the care of Gentiva Hospice and Liberty Terrace Healthcare. Funeral services at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 14, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Raytown Ward, 5609 Norfleet Road, Kansas City, Mo., with Bishop Ken Graham presiding. The family will visit with friends one hour prior to the services at the church. Burial will follow the funeral at Floral Hills Cemetery. Doris was born Aug. 12, 1929, in Dodge City, Kan., to Ellis Edmond Braden and Gladys Eleanora Leonhart Braden. The family moved to Topeka in the early 1930's. Doris was baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Oct. 29, 1939, and was a lifelong member. On Feb. 27, 1948, Doris married Edgar (Ed) Allen Duke Jr. in Kansas City. Together they raised two children. Doris is survived by her daughter, Brenda Lee (and Scott) Sellmeyer of Lawson, Mo., sister, Virginia Lucilla Powell of Grandview, Mo., and her brother, Jay J. Braden of Lawson, as well as many loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, son, parents, and seven siblings. Charter Funerals, 816-921-5555
