Fred spent his formative years on the family farm In Tuttle amid an extended family of Aunts, Uncles and Cousins. He graduated from Tuttle High School In 1946 where he was known to be an outstanding football player. After his graduation he enlisted in the Army and became a paratrooper in the famed 82nd Airborne Division. Upon his discharge, he came to Tulsa where his parents, Ada McCarthy Watson and Ray B. Watson were living. He eventually took a job with the City of Tulsa and attended night school at The University of Tulsa. When the opportunity arose, he joined the first class of the Tulsa Police Academy. After graduating from the academy he worked in the Traffic Division of the Tulsa Police Department. Later he became a patrol officer and finally ended up his career as a supervisor at the Tulsa City Jail. While he was with the Tulsa Police Department, he also worked many years off-duty as the traffic and security officer for The Admiral Twin Drive-In Theatre. One of the greatest honors he received was from youth of the Dawson area of North Tulsa. Seeing Fred In the community after his retirement they told him about how their lives had been changed because of his counsel and interest in them. After retirement, he became more active in Rose Hill United Methodist Church and spent time maintaining his rental properties and gardening. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Kurt Watson, of Tulsa.
