Rites to Be July 8th For Florence Gappa

Florence C Gappa, 83, of Ashton died July 4, 1999 at Howard County Community Hospital in St. Paul. Services will be held Thursday, July 8th, at 10:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church at Paplin The Rev. Larry Coulter will conduct the Mass of Christian Bunal Acolytes will be Bnttney Badura, Travis Jonak and Mitch Jonak Julie Dush will be the musician Selections are "Be Not Afraid," "On Eagles Wings," "How Great Thou Art," and "On This Day, O Beautiful Mother" Interment will be in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Cemetery at Paplin. Casketbearers will be Joe Jonak, Bryan Stanczyk, Nick Gappa, Luke Pedersen, Aaron Lewandowski and Jeff Polski. Peters Funeral Home at St Paul is in charge of arrangements.

Florence C "Tina" Gappa was born on October 20, 1915, on the family farm north of Loup City, Nebraska, the daughter of Alozy and Regina (Grudzinski) Ziola. She attended Sherman County District No 31 rural school Upon completing her education, she worked at the Fairmont Creamery in Loup City and did housekeep­ing for several area families. She was united in marriage to Leo Gappa on October 21, 1941, at Loup City The couple farmed northeast of Ashton for many years Mr Gappa died on Febru­ary 2, 1981, and Mrs Gappa moved into Ashton in September of 1981, where she lived the rest of her life She was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, its Altar Society and Rosary Sodality

She is survived by one son, Howard Gappa of Ashton, five daughters, Renee (Mrs. Delbert) Jonak and Deloris (Mrs. Jim) Stanczyk, both of Ashton, Sharon (Mrs. Dennis) Pedersen of Elba, Maxine Lewandowski of St. Paul and Linda (Mrs Jerry) Polski of Elba; 24 grandchildren and 41 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Ernest Ziola of St. Paul Her parents, her husband, Leo Gappa; one son, LeRoy Gappa; one daughter, JoAnn Gappa; one great-granddaughter, Meagan Smith; and one brother, Ben Ziola, preceded her in death.Memorials are suggested to the donor's choice.
