SALT LAKE CITY--Elizabeth "Bessie" Ware Thornley, died Friday, May 24, 1996, in Salt Lake City.

She was born December 31, 1898 in Layton, Utah, a daughter of James and Charlotte Young Ware.

She Married Jesse Layton Thornley, February 12, 1925 in Logan LDS Temple. He died October 7, 1972.

She attended Davis High School and had lived in Layton, Utah most of her life. She had been a bookkeeper for her husband and Continental Oil Co. for 29 years.

She was a member of the Layton LDS 1st Ward where she served in the Primary, M.I.A. and was a visiting teacher. She had been active in drama productions.

Surviving are one daughter, Glenna T. (Bill) Smith, Bountiful, Utah; one son, John Ware Thornley, Layton, Utah; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Wednesday, May 29, 1996, Lindquist's Layton Mortuary, 1074 North Fairfield Rd. Friends may call Tuesday 6-8 p.m., and Wednesday, 9:45-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery.
