Mark Lee Shea, 67, of Eau Claire died Thursday, November 10, 2005, at Sacred Heart Hospital.Mark, the youngest of five children, was born January 10, 1938, in Eau Claire, Wis., to Donald T. “Bumper” and Eola (Dinger) Shea. He served in the United States Army and spent most of his enlistment in Hawaii. He worked for Presto Industries until purchasing Shea-D-Rest Supper Club. Upon sale of the supper club, he managed the Hong Kong House Lounge. Mark also worked as a bookkeeper at Chef’s Supply (which was a family owned business), and worked with mentally handicapped adults. In the most recent years, he managed the Eau Claire Motel until transferring to the Maple Manor Motel, which were both owned by his friend, Mike Stangel.Mark is survived by his daughter, Amanda Lee Shea of Eau Claire; friend and former wife, Barb Peterson of Altoona and her daughter, Kimberly Miles of Allan, Texas; brother, Jack (Barb) Shea of Turtle Lake; two sisters, Kay Kealey of Bullhead City, Ariz., and Joey (Jack) Toy of Fargo, N.D.; sister in-law, Florence Shea of Fullerton, Calif.; grandchildren, Alexia Chang, Mackenzie Owens and Matthew Henning, all of Eau Claire; and by Shoua Chang of Eau Claire, who was like the son Mark never had; many other relatives and friends.Mark was preceded in death by his parents, Donald T. “Bumper” and Eola (Dinger) Shea; brother, Don Shea; stepdaughter, Paula Miles; and brothers-in-law, Butch Plunkett and Jim Kealey.Mark was raised Catholic and attended St. Pat’s grade school and Regis High School. Growing up, Mark enjoyed boxing, being a caddie, life guarding and volunteering with special needs children. His family’s love of golf continued into adulthood. Tuesdays were set aside, rain or shine, for Mark and his golf buddies. Mark won several golfing awards and was nicknamed “One Putt.” When not golfing, Mark could be found watching the Packers games. He was an avid reader and owned a library of science fiction books. His other interests included science, astronomy and woodworking.Memorial services will be held at 7 p.m., Monday, November 14, 2005, at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home in Eau Claire with Father Edmund Klimek officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday from 4 to 7 p.m.Mark’s family would like to thank those who offered support during his battle with cancer, and a special thanks to Hallie Golf Course.
