It is thought that Karl was given his name in rememberance of his mother's brother, Karl Schafer, who died in Germany at a young age.
On Tuesday, April 3rd, 1940, Karl married Miss Myrtle Brown in the office of Judge Matthew V. Cahill on Fair Street in KIngston, NY. The witnesses were Corinne D. Cahill and Vivian Voight.
Karl's paternal grandparents were the late Ludwig and Theresia (Brotzge) Amann of Hohenems, Vorarlberg, Austria.
They are presumed to be interred in Saint Anton's Cemetery in Hohenems. His maternal grandparents were George Charles and Rosine (Schleebach) Schafer, formerly of Selgenstadt, Germany; they are interred in Hudson View Cemetery, Section Vw, Mechanicville, NY.
Karl William Amann passed away at the Veteran's Administration Medical Center, Holland Avenue, Albany, NY, on October 30th, 1982. His calculated age is 75 yrs, 6 mos, and 2 days. At the time of his death, he resided at 133 Lincoln Avenue, Colonie, Albany, NY, 12205. He retired from the General Electric Company, Schenectady, in March of 1973 after 30 years of service.
Survivors include his wife Myrtle (Brown) Amann and a son, John Karl Amann.
