Died on Monday


Funeral services for Martin E. Abbott, 60, Middleport, who apparently died Monday at his home, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Rawlings-Coats Funeral Home.

Mr. Abbott was born in Middleport Nov. 28, 1914. He was preceded in death by his father, Sterlie Abbott.

Surviving are his wife, Minnie (Midge) Manley Abbott; a daughter, Mrs. Vivian M. Ingles, Ravenswood, W.Va.; a son, Martin Gene Abbott, Lancaster; his mother, Mrs. Edith Herrmann Abbott, Middleport; two sisters, Mrs. Pete (Virgina) Wears, Pomeroy; and Mrs. Gene (Gertrude) Swartz, Belpre; two brothers, Harold, Parkersburg, W.Va., and Lawrence of Arizona, and eight grandchildren.

Mr. Abbott was a member of Pomeroy Masonic Lodge 164, F&AM, and was a member of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Columbus.

Officiating at services will be Rev. George Oiler. Burial will be in Gravel Hill Cemetery at Cheshire. Friends may call at the funeral home after noon Wednesday. The Pomeroy Masonic Lodge will hold Masonic services Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
