She was born in Falls City on June 18, 1956, the daughter of Vincent, Jr. and Betty (Bentley) Frederick. Melanie graduated from Falls City High School in 1974. She was married to Eric Jensen at Worland, WY, on October 24 1986. They later divorced in 1997.
Melanie received a national activity director certification in Wyoming in 1987, while working at the Bethesda Care Center of Worland. She later worked as a licensed practical nurse for the Clarion Health Care Center in Clarion, IA.
Melanie is survived by two children: Erica Jensen, Lodi, California, and Spencer Jensen, Cedar Falls, Iowa; her father Vincent Frederick, Jr., Falls City; three sisters: Arleta Kentopp, Lincoln; Donita Frederick, Falls City; and Julie DeCourley, Fisk, MO; three brothers: Rodney, Great Bend, KS; Harley and James of Falls City; a special friend, Larry Heggebo, Waterloo, IA; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Betty Frederick, and a brother, Mark, in infancy.
The body of Ms. Frederick has been cremated and a memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 18, 2014, at the Dorr and Clark Funeral Home in Falls City with Reverend Paul Weinert officiating.
