J. H. ECKENROD EXPIRES AT 88
John H. Eckenrod, 88, a native of Loretto, died Saturday afternoon in the home of his daughter, Mrs. Annette Rodgers, 404 Highland Ave., after an illness of pneumonia. Mrs. Rodgers is the widow of William H. Rodgers who died just one month ago. Mr. Eckenrod was born May 31, 1855, in Loretto, a son of Jesse and Susan (Malloy) Eckenrod, and had been a resident of Johnstown for more than 40 years.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Rosie (Litzinger) Eckenrod; a brother, Silas Eckenrod, New Baltimore, and five children - Simon A., Bon Air; Hugh J., Woodvale; Aaron R., Smith Alley; Silas F., Detroit Mich., and the daughter mentioned, with whom he resided. Also surviving are 37 grandchildren and 47 great-grandchildren. Five children are dead.
A requiem high mass will be celebrated at 9 o'clock tomorrow morning in St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Moxham. Interment will be made in St. Michael's Cemetery, under direction of the Kennedy Funeral Home. Friends are being received in the Rodgers residence.
