Henry C. (Clapper) Bumbaugh∼BRUMBAUGH - FATAL ACCIDENT - On Saturday, October 26th, 1872, a fatal accident occured on the Morrison's Cove Branch of the Pennsylvania Railroad between Martinsburg and Martinsburg Junction by which, Isaac S. Brumbaugh, an employee on the repair gang, was fatally injured. The circmstances as near as we could learn were as follows. The gang were returning from work on the Hand Car. M. Brumbaugh was engaged in turning the car, when by some means, the crank struck him, throwing him forwards on the track. The car passed over him and brusing his head and arms in a frightful manner. He lingered in intense pain until Monday night, when his sufferings were ended by death. His remains were entered to mother earth, on Wednesday, by the Odd Fellows and Knights of Pythias, both of which organizations he was a member.
