ADA-Graveside services for Virginia Evelyn Caldwell, 90, Ada are 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Rosedale Cemetery, Rev. Joe Dixon will officiate.

Mrs. Caldwell died Thursday, May 22, 2008 at a local nursing home. She was born June 25, 1917 in the community of Lantham, near Vanoss, Oklahoma to Charlie Stoker and Edna Ozella Auten Mitchell. She graduated from Vanoss High School.

She married Elster Lyle Caldwell on August 28, 1942 in Cheyenne, Wyoming. He died March 23, 2003. They were married for 60 years. Mrs. Caldwell was a sales clerk for Gibson's and a homemaker. She loved oil painting, arts and crafts, and creating miniature log cabins. Mrs. Caldwell was a member of the First Baptist Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Kathleen Lawson, Ada; a son, Larry Caldwell, Choctaw; three grandsons, Stephen Caldwell, Moore, Garrett Lawson, California, and Jeffrey Lawson, California; two great granddaughters, Chloe Lawson and Camryn Lawson, both of California; and two great grandsons, Grayson Caldwell and Zane Caldwell, both of Moore.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a brother, James Mitchell, and a sister, Charlcie Scott.

Bearers will be Barry Heath, Gerald Lawson, Steve Ewing, and Stephen Caldwell. Honorary bearers will be Garrett Lawson and Jeffrey Lawson.
