Preceded in death by parents, William “Bill” and Ada Mae Hamilton; wife, Mildred (Griffey) Hamilton; granddaughter, Taya Michelle Hamilton.
This precious and compassionate man leaves a sister, Clara Mae Johnson; children, David (Betty) Hamilton, Randy Hamilton, Debra (Larry) Leach, Timmy (Patricia) Hamilton, Tammy (Jeff) Morgan, Jackie Hamilton, Jeff (Deana) Hamilton, and Susie Hamilton; 16 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren. They loved their Papaw Jack and he loved them. Many smiles were given to him by his grandchildren.
His love of life and family made him a loved and respected man among his family and friends. Charlie entered the United States Army on January 13, 1949. He served in the Korean War where he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal with three Bronze Service Stars, Combat Infantryman Badge 1st Award, United Nations Service Medal and The Purple Heart. Aid Station of the 8th Calvary Regiment shows the entry wound on his left forearm from a shell fragment by the enemy that occurred at 12:30 PM on October 17, 1951, near Mago-Ri, Korea. On June 10, 1952, he was Honorably Discharged.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 19, 2021 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM and then travel in procession to Trentville Cemetery for graveside services officiated by Pastor Danny Neal. Full Military Honor provided by Volunteer State Veterans Honor Guard. Serving as pallbearers are, Nick, Zack, Jacob, Shane, Jason and Elijah.
