CASSOPOLIS-Maxine E. Curtis, 96, OF Cassopolis, MI and formerly of Elkhart, IN passed away on January 7, 2014 at Cass County Medical Care Facility.

She was born December 29, 1917 in Elkhart to Raymond & Ella Mae (Housefeld) Whinnery. On August 24, 1940 in Elkhart

she married William A. Curtis; he passed away on October 30, 1998 in Elkhart. Surviving is 1 son; Terry L. (Linda) Curtis of Vandalia, 4 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by 2 sisters. Maxine graduated from Elkhart High School in 1936 and was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church.

In her free time she enjoyed playing cards, bingo, painting and coloring. She also loved watching birds and liked flowers.

Visitation will be 2 hours prior to the 1:00 pm service on Monday, January 13, 2014 at Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home. Pastor Tom DeFries from St. Paul's United Methodist Church will preside.

A private family entombment will follow at Rice Cemetery.
