David Raymond Larson was born on March 14, 1961 to L.W. and Irene Larson in Thief River Falls, MN. The family moved to California, where L.W. was stationed on the naval base. They lived in Illinois for a time, then moved back to Thief River Falls, and finally settled in Red Lake Falls. He graduated from Lafayette High School in Red Lake Falls in 1979.

Dave was united in marriage to Bernadette Schmitz on June 22, 1985 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Red Lake Falls, MN. They lived in Red Lake Falls for two years, and Dave worked at the car dealership in town. Their son Joseph was born December 10, 1986. They moved to Melrose in 1987, and finally to Warroad in 1988. On April 1, 1990, their daughter Annette was born.

Dave worked at Lake Country Chevrolet, formerly Johnson Chevrolet, in Warroad for 23 years, and as an AFLAC insurance agent for the last 2 years. He was very involved in the community as a member of the Sons of the American Legion in Red Lake Falls, Knights of Columbus, Geese Unlimited, Warroad Lost River Sportsmen's Complex, and the Utilities Commission. He loved to spend time outdoors: hunting, fishing, four-wheeling, snowmobiling and shooting sporting clays. He spent every fall at the hunting camp in Fourtown, preparing for deer season and making improvements to the land. Dave also enjoyed playing cards and dice with friends and family. He was a generous, hard-working man who always had a good sense of humor, positive attitude, and a smile on his face. He loved his family and was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, son, and uncle. He passed away on January 8, 2014 at the Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND at the age of 52.
