Struthers - Charlotte Jo "Joie" Humphrey, 68, passed away peacefully to the Lord from her home in Struthers after suffering a long illness.

She was born February 3, 1945 in St. Bernice, IN, a daughter of Charles and Clara (Kaufman) Ward. She was an only child. Joie grew up in Indianapolis and graduated from Washington High School on the city's West Side. She married Joseph Rudzik and they came to the Struthers area in 1964.

She retired in 2004 from K-Mart after 30 years of service, having worked at both the Belmont Ave. and Hermitage stores.

On October 31, 1981, Joie was married to John Humphrey at the Centenary United Methodist Church in East Palestine by the Rev. Wallace Aker. Her and John were both employed in the area and made their home in Struthers.

Joie was a member of the Struthers United Methodist Church. She enjoyed family and friends, traveling, camping, and fishing in Canada with her husband. Joie also loved animals and had many dogs and cats over the years, keeping her husband John very busy.

She leaves behind her devoted husband, John; three brothers and three sisters-in-law, Jerome Rudzik of Youngstown, Chad and Jo Ellen Rudzik of Struthers, Patricia Wiles of Woodstock, GA, and Dennis and Ruth Swingle of Fairview, TX; 6 nieces, 7 nephews, 7 grand nieces, and 14 grand nephews; and her family at the Struthers United Methodist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her former mother and father-in-law, Joseph and Estelle Rudzik; father and mother-in-law, John and Ruth Humphrey; and two brothers-in-law, Jack Rudzik and Edgar Wiles.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, January 16th at 6 p.m. at the Struthers United Methodist Church with Pastor Doug Theobald officiating.

Interment will be at St. John the Baptist Cemetery in Lowellville, along side her mother Clara Metro and her beloved step-father, Paul Metro, both of whom she loved dearly.
