Margaret Elizabeth Matl, 96, of Temple, died Thursday, January 9, 2014, in a Temple Hospital. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, at St. Mary Catholic Church with Father Ranjan Cletus officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 7 p.m., with Rosary being recited at 7 p.m., Monday, at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home.

Margaret was born in Temple, Texas, to the late William James Temple and Margaret Wilson Temple. She lived in Temple most of her life except for a short while that she lived in Crockett. Margaret graduated from Crockett High School. On January 26, 1952, she married Jerry Matl, Sr. Margaret worked at Camp Hood and Lone Star Gas and was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, St. Mary Altar Society and KJTZ.

She was preceded death by her husband, on June 23, 1986; and a son, James Matl.

Survivors include her son, Jerry Matl, Jr. and his wife, Cindy, of Temple; grandchildren, Brent Matl and Michelle Matl Sims; great-grandchild, Cole Sims; other relatives and many friends.
