Elaine was married to T.P. Slaughter, and was divorced after 30 years of marriage. She was the eldest of seven children and was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Grover G. Wilson; husband, R.L. Carpenter; brothers, James C. King, Vincent F. King and Edgar E. King and sisters, Marjorie L. King Ingriola and Evelyn R. King Bowen.
She is survived by her brother, Virgel W. (JoAnn) King; children, Retha D. (Gerald "Jerry") Reilly, E. Jane (Fred) Porter, Truett Preston Slaughter, Jr. and Della E. (Harvey) Rampley; 30 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
She retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone Company on July, 1979 with 20 year, 10 months and 3 days of service and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America.
She was in the Refugio High School class of 1942, Refugio Ex-Student Association and as a lifelong fan of the Refugio Bobcat football team.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 8, 2012 at Rose Hill Park Cemetery in Corpus Christi, Texas with Pastor Tom Wagstaff of the Luthern Church in Rockport, Texas officiating.
Arrangements are entrusted to Cage Mills Funeral Home.
