Amy Josephine Fischer, age 92, of Bronson, died Sunday, October 16, 2005 at Maple Lawn Medical Care Facility. She had been in failing health.Amy Jo was born June 29, 1913 in Colon, Michigan , daughter of Raymond and Gertrude (Gilkison) Wagner and graduated from Colon High School in 1931.She first married Homer Borgert on November 28, 1936 in Wausseon, Ohio. He died in November 1967. Amy Jo then married Leo Fischer on July 1, 1970. Leo died in 1976.Amy Jo had lived in Kalakaska, Michigan from 1972 to 1976 when she moved back to Bronson. While in Kalkaska, she owned and operated the Ford’s Grocery Store which was known as ‘the everything store”. She had also worked for several area doctors in Branch County for many years.Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, C. Raymond “Butch” and Susan Borgert of Bronson; five step-children; her grandchildren Kelly Jo Shelton of Clarkston, MI and Fred and Debra Borgert of Florida; two great grandsons and her dear friend Irene Somers.Amy was preceded in death by her two husbands, her parents, two brothers and three sisters.According to her wishes, cremation has taken place. A Memorial Funeral Mass that celebrates the life of Amy Josephine Fischer will be held at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Coldwater with Rev. Fr. Brian Stanley officiating. Interment of cremains will follow in St. Mary Cemetery.
