Mary E. Lisle, 91, of Greeley, passed away January 5, 2014 at the Greeley Place. She was born October 2, 1922 to Richard and Sarah (Clark) McCaffrey in Otis, Colorado, the last of six children.
She attended the Welch one room school southwest of Otis through the 8th grade. Her high school years were spent in Otis where she graduated.
After graduation, she and her mother moved to Akron, CO, where Mary worked in a government office until she married Robert C. Lisle on April 20, 1947.
The next 44 years were spent on a ranch north of Weldona, CO. During this time she worked in a government office in Fort Morgan, CO, for 27 ½ years. She always managed to get time off to ride horses during the cattle roundups because horseback riding was a lifetime passion of hers. After retiring from the government position, she took up oil painting and painted over 250 paintings including 35 saw blade clocks. Square-dancing was another hobby she enjoyed for over 40 years which included lots of traveling.
After retiring from ranching, the Lisle's moved to Greeley, CO, where they still reside. Over 5,000 hours of volunteering at RSVP, NCMC, UCCC, First Presbyterian Church and The Greeley Senior Center were performed since moving to Greeley. She was a member of various Presbyterian churches wherever she lived.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Lisle, Greeley, CO; and with neither children nor grandchildren, there are 8 loving nieces and nephews and numerous grand-nephews and nieces surviving.
She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings.
At her request, there is to be no funeral or memorial service. There will be a cremation and inurnment will be in the columbarium of the Fort Morgan Presbyterian Church in Fort Morgan, CO.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Weld Food Bank, in care of Allnutt Funeral Service, 702 13th Street, Greeley, CO 80631. Friends may view the online obituary
