He was born in Barren Fork, Kentucky to James and Annie Davenport Sumner on March 17, 1928. He married Madeline Davenport on November 7, 1947 in Whitley City, Kentucky and she preceded him in death on December 19, 2004.
He was a WWII Army Veteran and a body repairman for General Motors. He was a member and a deacon of New Hope Community Church. Family and the church was Albert's life.
Those left to honor Albert's memory include; son, David (Kay) Sumner of Cleves, Ohio; daughter Florence Knott (special friend, David Watson) of Knoxville, Tennessee; sons, Stanley (Brenda) Sumner of Brookville, Steven (Teresa) Sumner of Clarksville, Tennessee, Kenneth (Kathy) Sumner of Brookville, Randall (Phyllis) Sumner of Cleves, Ohio; daughter, Ora Fay Sumner of Brookville; 15 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren; 3 half-sisters, and 1 half-brother.
Besides his parent, he was preceded in death by a great granddaughter, 3 half-brothers and 2 half-sisters.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m., Friday, June 14, and Saturday, June 15, 2013 from 11 a.m to 1 p.m., at Cook Funeral Home, 929 Main Street, Brookville, Indiana. The funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. on Saturday, officiated by Pastor Rey Echavaria. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery.
